During one of my filming trips, I had 24 hours to spend in Seattle before returning to the UK (all thanks to Air force One and the President Joe Biden coming into Seattle airport and delaying my trip home – it was complete chaos but I’m glad I had the day). So heres my take on 24 hours in Seattle.
Seattle is a city of iconic landmarks, world-class coffee, and breathtaking waterfront views and top top it off it is one of the most LGBTQ+ friendly cities in America! Whether you’re stopping by for a quick visit or squeezing in as much as possible on a layover, one day in Seattle is enough to experience some of its best highlights. From the bustling Pike Place Market to the sky-high Space Needle, here’s how to make the most of 24 hours in the Emerald City!

Start Your Day with Seattle’s Famous Coffee
I found Seattle a very easy city to walk around. It felt very safe and all of the main tourist areas were not too busy the day I was there. Seattle is coffee heaven and home of the first ever Starbucks coffee house, so kickstart your day with a cup from a legendary spot. Skip the massive line at the original Starbucks (unless you’re a die-hard fan) and try the many independent coffee houses the city has to offer – and don’t forget to grab a donut as they are some of the best I have eaten in Seattle.

Explore Pike Place Market
No visit to Seattle is complete without wandering through Pike Place Market, one of the oldest and most famous markets in the U.S. There are so many food options here you wont know where to start. Other highlights include the many quirky stores and souvenir shops with an amazing view out to the water. Dont forget to visit the famous pig statue!

Visit the Space Needle & Seattle Center
Definitely worth the visit, offering stunning 360° views of the skyline, Mount Rainier, and Puget Sound from 605 feet up. On a clear day you can see far and on a evening enjoy the sunset. Make sure t book as it gets busy!
Shop til you drop
I wanted to get some shopping in, especially to visit the Fjallraven store as we don’t have any in the UK (and its USA so its cheaper!). Seattle has a mixture of stores, from high end to quirky smaller indie shops. If you love shopping this is the place to be!
So there it is. 24 hours in Seattle. I am very much looking forward to returning and enjoying more of what Seattle has to offer!
