If you are looking to visit, here’s everything you need to know about visiting Victoria Falls National Park, Zimbabwe.
Location: Zimbabwe-Zambia border
Height: 108 meters (354 ft)
Width: 1,708 meters (5,604 ft) – One of the largest waterfalls in the world!
UNESCO World Heritage Site

Discovered by David Livingstone in 1855 (you will find more infomration on this as you walk around), Victoria Falls is the largest sheet of falling water on Earth and a bucket-list destination for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike.
Walk Through Victoria Falls National Park
The typical way to visit the falls is to take a walk through Vic Falls National Park. A relatively easy walking trail on the Zimbabwe side of the falls with viewpoints from the Devil’s Cataract, Main Falls and Danger Point. Each of these locations provides a spectacular view of the falls but beware some of these areas do not have a safety barrier.
As soon as you enter the park you can hear the power of the water. Top tip is to bring a poncho or rain coat because even though the spray might be light at points, you will still get soaked. Also wear suitable walking/hiking shoes with grip because some of the areas can get slippy due to all of the water. I was in awe when standing in front of the falls and this wasn’t even at peak rain season!
The falls themselves are surrounded by amazing flora and fauna, with the spray from the waterfalls providing a suitable habitat for rainforest growth. This includes beautiful ferns, palms and vines.
If you are lucky you might also spot some wildlife, including elephants, hippos, giraffes etc, so keep an eye out!
Finishing off the day we had a coffee at the cafe, which came with a shot of Amarula (my favourite cream based alcoholic drink of all time) that you can take separately or mix into the coffee, and a biscuit.

Tips from official Zim parks website:
- For summer (September – March), cool comfortable clothing is recommended along with sunhats and sunscreen.
- For winter and autumn (April – August), warm clothing is recommended, especially for the night times.
- Wear earthy colours and avoid bright-coloured clothing like red, yellow, bright green.
Overall it was a great afternoon to visit, which took the group around 2/3 hours to explore. And if you feel like it head into Vic Falls Town after for a bite to eat.
