Discover Bristol’s Iconic Street Food Markets

Bristol’s street food scene is nothing short of legendary. Whether you’re craving sizzling bao buns, wood-fired pizza, or Caribbean jerk straight off the grill, the city’s street food markets deliver fresh flavours with a healthy side of community spirit. From local favourites to new discoveries, here are the top three street food markets in Bristol that you absolutely shouldn’t miss.

Where? Corn Street, BS1 1JQ
When? Monday to Saturday, 9:30am–5pm

At the heart of Bristol’s Old City sits the grand dame of street food markets: St Nicholas Market, known locally as St Nick’s. Housed in a beautiful 18th-century Exchange building, this market is a foodie paradise with a fiercely loyal following.

Outside, you’ll find the Street Food Market running on Corn Street, with traders serving everything from Syrian falafel wraps to vegan curries, Venezuelan arepas, gourmet burgers, jerk chicken, and beyond. Inside the covered Glass Arcade, stallholders dish out fragrant Indian dosas, Portuguese custard tarts, and handmade pies.

Where? Under the covered walkway by Watershed, along the harbourside.
When? Fridays and Saturdays (year-round)

There’s something special about eating street food next to the water – and the Harbourside Street Food Market delivers just that. Every Friday and Saturday, dozens of traders set up along the scenic harbourside promenade, offering everything from sourdough toasties to aromatic curries and award-winning burgers and wings. The food just hits differently on a sunny day, when Bristol is bustling, the sun is shining and you can sit and watch the world (and boats) go by. Just watch out for the hungry seagulls!

Alp Mac & los hermanos are two of my favourite places to eat. And they move around!

Many locals pop down on their lunch break, so the vibe is relaxed and friendly. The market focuses on independent, sustainably minded vendors, so you’ll often find plant-based and gluten-free options in abundance. And there is always a bar and music playing. This place gets busy as it is central Bristol.

Where? Raleigh Road, Southville, BS3 1TF
When? Sundays, 10am–2:30pm

I love this particular market, mainly because its surrounded by other amazing bars and restaurants and local artisan stalls. Every Sunday, the forecourt of the iconic Tobacco Factory transforms into a buzzing hub of flavours, music, and community. South Bristol’s much-loved Tobacco Factory Market is a celebration of local produce, independent traders, and global street food. Its also a greta place to find small arts and crafts and even great on a wet day.

Expect sizzling Asian stir-fries, pull apart macaroni cheese (by AlpMac if you need to know – they are amazing!), Caribbean roti, sweet treats such as gelato and pastries and artisan coffee, all served with the relaxed, friendly atmosphere that defines Bedminster. There’s usually live music nearby making it a perfect way to spend a lazy Sunday.

Some of the local produce when I last visited this market.

Final thoughts

What is great about Bristol is that a lot of the vendors do move around so every week is different. So go with an open mind and an empty stomach! All information on who is where can be found on each markets social media pages.

Some of my favourites include:

  • Alp Mac for delicious mac and cheese bowls
  • Los hermanos for fried chicken and waffle fries.
  • Eatchu for amazing dumplings!
  • Matina always hits hard. Great middle eastern food. An Establishment.
